Community Services Librarian
Permanent Part-Time Position
Position Summary
The Wetaskiwin Public Library seeks an energetic Librarian who is committed to excellence in public service, intellectual freedom, and community outreach. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills as well as a desire to improve library service in our community. Programming experience is a must. The librarian will also learn and become proficient in all library operations. This position reports to the Manager of Administrative Services.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and conducts programming for adults, seniors, and Indigenous populations in the community. Establishes and maintains community partnerships. Grant writing will be considered an asset. This position is responsible for the management of reference services and technology tutoring. Exemplary customer service skills with proficiency using integrated library systems (ILS) required.
Education and Qualifications
- MLIS from an accredited Library and Information Studies program.
- 2 years experience working in a library setting.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, Google Docs, ILS, and other computer software.
- Experience in a supervisory position.
- Marketing, advertisement creation, and social media skills are an asset.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Outstanding instructional skills.
- Completes other related duties as assigned.
- Valid Alberta driver’s license required
Current Schedule for the Position
- This is a 20 to 28 hours per week position.
- Evening and weekend work may be required.
- This position has a six-month probation period.
