Summer Programs

Children's Summer Reading Club (Ages 0 - 13)

Stop by the library all summer long to participate in fun drop-in programs. We'll have storytimes, crafts, science projects, LEGO, and all sorts of fun activities. Complete your reading log and bring it to the library to win weekly prizes. Challenge your friends or your siblings to see who can read the most this summer. The kick-off party will be on June 25th and SRC activities begin July 4th and end the week of August 22nd. Don't miss our wrap-up party on August 26th.

Teen Summer Reading Challenge (Ages 13 - 17)

Teens will have a chance to win prizes and drop-in to activities throughout the summer. Prize entries can be gained by picking up a new Teen SRC booklet each week. Booklets will contain fun activities, book reviews, ciphers and scavenger hunt clues. Completing the community scavenger hunt will award you one entry per week along with a separate entry for returning the completed booklet. 

New booklets will be released at the start of each week beginning July 4th and ending the week of August 22nd. 

Adult Summer Reading Challenge (Ages 18+)

Stop by the library each week to pick up a new adult SRC booklet. Complete the puzzles and fill in a book review for your chance to win an Amazon Kindle Fire and other fun prizes. Correct answers and complete forms will enter you in the grand prize draw. 

New booklets will be released at the start of each week beginning July 4th and ending the week of August 22nd. 

Summer Reading Program for Seniors: 2022 Book Bingo (Ages 65+)

Complete any 5 BINGO squares this summer and you will be entered to win fun prizes! Record your participation on the back of your BINGO sheet. For every 5 squares you complete you will receive an extra entry. Books, magazines, audiobooks — all formats count! Book BINGO begins June 1st. Be sure to return your BINGO card to the library by August 15, 2022. 


Scavenger Hunt (Ages 0 - 13) 

Search throughout Friends of the Library Park to find book covers. Complete the clues and fill in the blanks to reveal a sentence. For every sentence you discover you will receive an entry in the prize draw. The Scavenger Hunt begins the week of July 4th with an new one posted every week!

Morning LEGO (Ages 4 - 99) Drop-In

Join us for LEGO building and kit play. Get creative with hands-on activities like kinetic sand, magnetic tiles, and board games.

Mondays from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM starting July 4th.

Fakémon (Ages 9 - 16) Drop-In

What is a Fakémon you might ask? Fakémon are fake Pokémon made by you! Show us what you come up with and then make your creations come to life. Fill out the data form, make your own Fakémon card, and make a figurine of it out of clay.

Every second Monday at 2:00 PM starting July 11th.

Minute To Win It (Ages 11 - 17) Drop-In

Pop by every second Monday for a new Minute To Win It game. Compete with others or challenge yourself to beat a record. 

Mondays at 2:00 PM starting July 4th.


Park Play with Stories & Bubbles (Ages 0 - 10) Drop-In

Join Miss Kat at the Friends of the Library Park for some stories, songs, puppets and bubbles. 

Tuesdays at 10:30 AM starting July 5th. 

Kids Crafty Science (Ages 6 - 11) Drop-In

Get your hands dirty with fun science activities like goopy slime and other mind-blowing experiments.

Tuesdays from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM starting July 5th. 

Video Games (Ages 11 - 17) Drop-In

Visit the library to play a variety of video games or board games. 

Tuesdays from 4:30 PM - 6:30 PM starting July 5th. 


Making Stories Come to Life (Ages 0 - 7) Drop-In

Join us for a story and a craft or activity that brings your imagination to life.

Wednesdays at 10:30 AM starting July 6th.

Get the creativity flowing with this program, be surprised by random craft supplies every week, and create something awesome.

Stitchin' in the Stacks (Ages 16+) Drop-In

Bring your knitting, crocheting, or yarn projects to the library to work on and visit with other fellow crafters. For more inspiration you can also check out the library's project resources or kits.

Wednesdays from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM starting June 1st.


Outdoor Art at the Park (Ages 6 - 11) Drop-In

Come hang out at the Friends of the Library Park and create some super rad, messy outdoor art! 

Thursdays at 11:00 AM starting July 7th .

Tie Dye Thursday (Ages 11 - 17 ) Registration Required

Join us at the library every week to try different types of tie dye, like sharpie, natural, bleach and much more! 

Thursdays at 2:00 PM starting July 7th. 

Special Guest Story Tellers (All Ages) Drop-In

Join us every second Thursday for a story time featuring a special guest. 

Thursdays on July 7th, July 21st, August 4th, and August 18th. 

Adult Movie Night (Ages 18+) Drop-In

The first Thursday of every month we will be showing a movie that relates to the book club book read the month prior. Everyone is welcome to attend, registration for the book club is not required. 

Once a month. Thursdays from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. June 2nd, July 7th, and August 4th. 

Adult Book Club (Ages 18+)  Registration Required

Are you a book lover looking to deep-dive and chat with other book lovers about new titles and genres? Register for one of the Wetaskiwin Public Library Book Club sessions, to discuss that month’s current read. For more book discussion you can join the Wetaskiwin Public Library Book Club Facebook page to leave and read additional book reviews. 

Once a month. Thursdays from 3:30 PM - 5:00 PM or 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM.

Family Disc Golf (All Ages) Drop-In

The library along with Wetaskiwin Disc Golf will be hosting skills and game practices that will teach the basics of the game and connect you with the Disc Golf group in our community. Sessions will be held at Peace Hills Park. 

Fridays, July 15th and 29th, and August 12th from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. 

Disc Golf Kits have been added to the library's collection and are available for Wetaskiwin Library cardholders to borrow for a week at a time. 



Saturday Storytime (Ages 0 - 6) Drop-In

Join our summer student for a Saturday morning full of stories.
