Do you love what your library does for the community?  Do you want to give back?  There are many ways to show support.  Here are a few suggestions!

The Library Board is currently seeking volunteers from the community to become board members. Citizen appointments occur at various times depending on the terms of the positions available. If you are interested in helping guide the Wetaskiwin Public Library toward the future, please contact the library or call City Hall at 780-361-4400.

Our Friends of the Library group works hard to assist the library in promoting, maintaining and enhancing library services. Their efforts include fundraising, advocacy, and talking about the library to the public.  The Friends meet once every second month to discuss plans and introduce new business.

For more information about the Friends of the Library, and how you can become a member, please contact the library.

Homebound Delivery is a service intended for patrons who are unable to come to the library due to permanent or temporary disability, illness, injury, or limitations in mobility or transportation.  Patrons can participate in the service permanently, seasonally, or for a predetermined length of time. Click here to read more about this service.

We are currently looking for volunteers who are able to transport a selection of library materials from the library to a homebound patron's house on a monthly basis. Volunteers in this program are asked to undergo a criminal record check.

For more information about this service and to apply to volunteer please contact the library.

The Wetaskiwin Public Library gratefully accepts your donations. Here are some of the different ways you can give to the library.

Due to the overwhelming volume of used book donations the library receives, we cannot accept:

  • Harlequin/Silhouette Romances
  • Magazines
  • Textbooks
  • Encyclopedias
  • Condensed or abridged books such as Reader's Digest
  • Books that are more than 7 years old

The library accepts books that are:

  • Popular
  • Recently published
  • Hard-cover or paperback
  • Published within the last 5 years
  • In great condition

Donating books that are damaged, moldy, or very old costs the library staff time and storage space. Please consider recycling or disposing of these items.

Donated items that are not added to the library's collection will be saved for future book sales.

Enjoy magazines but don't want the clutter? Think about donating a subscription to the Wetaskiwin Public Library.  For more information about this program or to find out which subscriptions are needed, please phone the library at 780-361-4446.

Monetary donations in any denomination are always gratefully accepted. Donations may be made online using the secure link below:

The Wetaskiwin Public Library may accept donations of library materials, such as books and DVDs, provided they meet our donation policy. All donations are subject to the approval of the library manager or staff. Donated materials become the property of the library and may be used or disposed of as deemed appropriate.

Please refer to the guidelines below for a listing of what materials are deemed acceptable. If you have any questions please contact the library.

From time to time the library will post a need for donations of specific items and supplies. Check our latest news to see if there are currently any specific needs. If you have something you think we could use, please phone the library at 780-361-4446.

Please note that the library reserves the right to refuse any donations that do not meet our current needs.
