The library board has full legislative authority under the Libraries Act for the management and provision of library service in the municipality. The board approves annual budgets and has financial oversight of library operations. In addition, the board determines service objectives for the library that are appropriate to the needs of the community and re-examines them periodically. The board also develops policies governing library programs and operations in consultation with the library's manager.

Being a member of the Wetaskiwin Public Library Board is a rewarding role that involves maintaining essential public services for the community. Board members commit to a three-year term, attending monthly meetings and participating in various committees to support the library's functions. The board consists of 10 members, including community representatives and city officials, who help create policies, manage funding, and advocate for the library.
